Choose Faith over Fear!

Deuteronomy 31:1-8, New Revised Standard Version

Our world is full of fear but also there are always signs of God’s hope.  Moses has aged out of leadership and is now passing it on to Joshua and he enters the promised land.  Fear could have paralyzed both Moses and Joshua.  Fear could have whispered jealousy and envy.  However, God’s presence and word invited them to participate in a faithful transition of leadership.  Anxiety was probably within both of Moses and Joshua, but both leaders did not allow each other to get in the way of God’s plan.  Fear tries to disrupt God’s plan.  Both men decided to choose faith over fear!  What keeps you holding on to certain fearful elements, situations or people in your life?  Where is God calling you to let go and let God?

Fear Not! Be aware of your limitations!
When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, he said to them: “I am now one hundred twenty years old.  I am no longer able to get about, and the Lord has told me, ‘You shall not cross over this Jordan.’”   Deuteronomy 31:1-2

Fear Not! Be ready when God calls!
“Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.”  Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and bold, for you are the one who will go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their ancestors to give them; and you will put them in possession of it.”   Deuteronomy 31:6-7

Fear Not! Be assured that God is with you!
“It is the Lord who goes before you.  He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.”   Deuteronomy 31:8
