Greetings Holy, Healthy and Happy People of God,
As I write this eNote to our faithful and devoted community of radical and responsible followers of Jesus Christ, I am humbled by our relationship with Grace United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet. Several weeks ago, they decided to come to McKendree Church today and serve a pre-Thanksgiving meal, open the clothes closet and give away blankets to our downtown, displaced community.
Beginning around 3:15pm people started gathering for clothing and a meal. Generosity of the heart and gentleness of the hands provided inspiration and hope for all who gathered to serve and be served. One of the amazing parts of that 1.5 hours of service were the signs of gratitude that each of our displaced community members offered to each of the servers.
Today’s gathering reminded me of the words that Paul wrote to the Hebrews, “Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2 Whether we entertained angels today or not, we experienced mutual love.
Tomorrow on Thanksgiving, we will gather in a variety of settings, some intentional and some unintentional, but whoever is with us, let’s remember to exchange generosity, graciousness, and love, for Jesus Christ did it for all of us.
Hear the W.O.W., the Words of Wisdom,
“We are more thankful when we are thank-filled!”
Remember to pray The Lord’s Prayer every day at 12 Noon!
Also — We are sponsoring a United Methodist Pastor in Rwanda for a year. Currently the United Methodist pastors do not receive an adequate salary to support their families. It takes only $34 a month to support a pastor in Rwanda. Please bring your loose change for a special offering for our Rwanda Remains Faithful project. Your loose change can bring about change for these faithful men of God!
