As God Extends Our Life, Let’s Help Others Extend Their Life!

Greetings Holy, Healthy and Happy People of God,

As I write this eNote to our faithful and devoted community of radical and responsible followers of Jesus Christ, I recently attended a gathering of influential leaders.  Tony Giarratana, a major developer in downtown Nashville, invited 22 people to engage in a conversation.  We gathered for dinner and then proceeded to converse with one question, “Can quality of life be extended to others?”  The format was modeled after Thomas Jefferson’s understanding of gathering people which is referred to as the Jefferson Dinner.  Jefferson offered the table as a place for conversation, collaboration, and ultimately problem solution.

Before Jefferson, there was Jesus who modeled love in a variety of ways, but clearly the table was vital and the focal point for relationship building.  The table has always been a significant part of the Jewish culture especially for their Sabbath time.  Jesus was constantly inviting people to tables for insight and inspiration.  And ultimately the serving of Holy Communion reminded us of the gift of relationships and bridge building as Jesus introduced us to an abundant life.

Jesus calls us into a New Year with unlimited possibilities.  Jesus instructs us to live as holy and righteous people and demonstrate acts of compassion, justice, worship and devotion under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  And then He tells his disciples, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:20

Let’s go into 2019 with a belief and a commitment that God will guide us on our path of spiritual formation!

Hear the W.O.W., the Words of Wisdom,
“As God extends our life, let’s help others extend their life!”

Be Shalom,
Pastor Stephen
