SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES are regularly at 9am and 11am. In our new Sermon Series “Made For More!” Paul, the Apostle of Jesus Christ, reminds the people of the Ephesus community to unite under the sovereignty of Jesus Christ! Christ has reconciled the whole of creation to himself and to God. Paul is writing from prison to the church in Ephesus that they have a responsibility because humanity was Made For More in this world. God has invited humanity to participate in this transforming act of salvation through Jesus Christ.
People of all nations are united to Christ and to one another in the church, through the working of the Trinity. Paul uses several word pictures to describe the church: body, temple, mystery, new creature, bride, and soldier.
Christians should lead holy lives that give honor to God. Paul issues specific guidelines for right living because humanity was Made For More!
BAPTISM If you are interest in joining the church or in being baptized, please contact Ruth Baggett in the church office at 615-271-2600 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
CHANGE FOR RWANDA McKendree Church is sponsoring a United Methodist Pastor in Rwanda for a year. Currently the United Methodist pastors in Rwanda do not receive an adequate salary to support their families. It takes only $34 (U.S. money) a month to support a pastor in Rwanda. We will be taking a change offering each Sunday. Bring your change to create change!
CHRISTMAS EVE MEAL FOR THE DISPLACED – IT WAS GREAT! On Christmas Eve we had a meal for our neighbors – around 300 people were here to enjoy ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, sweet potato casserole, along with chess pie and brownies. This would not have been possible without you! One hundred volunteers were here to cook, serve, decorate, set up tables, greet our guests, help in the gift room, clean up and help in so many ways. Thank you for your donations of food, money, time and presence! Thanks to you, Christmas was not just another day for our neighbors. God’s blessings on you all!
SCOUT APPRECIATION BREAKFAST, JANUARY 13! Our Boy Scout Troop 219 wants to say thanks and show their appreciation for the support of the McKendree Church family. They are doing this by inviting you to BREAKFAST at 10am on Sunday, January 13. This is NOT a fundraiser; there is no cost to you. Everyone is invited to join us in the Fellowship Hall!
CLARIFICATION ON PARKING IN THE McKENDREE GARAGE
Our parking garage is leased to and run by Premier Parking. The corporation is changing to a fully automated system, which means there will no longer be attendants in the booth or on the first floor of the garage as you come in.
Sundays mornings – Take a ticket when entering the garage. This will open the entrance gate so you may come in. The exit gate will be open (up) from 10am-1pm on Sundays. Parking will be free for attending worship on Sunday mornings.
Wednesday evenings – Take a ticket when entering the garage. You will need to pick up a voucher, they will be in the green treasure chest in the back hallway. As you leave, put your parking ticket in the machine. The machine will tell you how much you owe. Scan the parking voucher to override the charge and raise the gate.
Other times coming to the church – Take a ticket when entering the garage. You will need to pick up a voucher from the church office. As you leave, put your parking ticket in the machine. The machine will tell you how much you owe. Scan the parking voucher to override the charge and raise the gate.
Please call Ruth Baggett in the church office (615-271-2600) if you have any questions.

We need your ideas for programs and projects as we will be planning the schedule and setting the goals for the year. If you cannot be present, but have suggestions to offer we would appreciate it if you would send them by e-mail or telephone to Martha Barr at 615-957-6081 or to me at 615-641-6858. We want this to be a productive year for growing in our relationship with Christ, and increasing our knowledge of issues and systems that need to be addressed as we put love and faith into action. OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE
MEN’S CLOTHING NEEDED FOR CLOTHES CLOSET! Last January at this time, the temperature was below zero! I’m thankful the temps haven’t gotten that low yet this winter. But we still have a lot more winter to go, and our displaced men and women are in great need of warmer clothing. We especially need warm clothing for men. Sweat shirts/pants, flannel shirts, jeans, jackets and shoes will be greatly appreciated! Blankets, coats, hats and gloves are also greatly needed. Donations may be brought to the church on Sundays or to the church office during the week.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO FOLD AND SORT CLOTHING! We need help to sort, hang and fold our clothing donations. This is done when the clothes closet is NOT open for guests, so we can fit your schedule. Morning or afternoon, on a regular basis, or just a one-time come and help. All assistance is greatly appreciated! Please contact Ruth Baggett in the church office if you can help in this vital ministry – 615-271-2600 or email@example.com.
