Free Parking on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings

Where to Park

The McKendree Parking Center Garage is located at 140 6th Avenue North, between Church and Commerce Streets.  Sixth Avenue North runs one way from Church Street. We’re on the left as you go down the hill.  Parking is free for all events at McKendree on Sunday mornings and after 5pm on Wednesday evenings. (On Wednesday evenings you will need to take a parking ticket from the garage attendant and have it stamped at the church.)  The entrance to the church is located beside the disability parking area, a stairwell and an elevator are on the 4th Floor of the garage which is painted purple with images of Johnny Cash.

Our parking garage is leased to and run by Premier Parking.  The corporation is changing to a fully automated system, which means there will no longer be attendants in the booth or on the first floor of the garage as you come in.

Sundays mornings – Take a ticket when entering the garage.  This will open the entrance gate so you may come in.  The exit gate will be open (up) from 10am-1pm on Sundays.  Parking will be free for attending worship on Sunday mornings.

Wednesday evenings – Take a ticket when entering the garage.  You will need to pick up a voucher, they will be in the green treasure chest in the back hallway.  As you leave, put your parking ticket in the machine.  The machine will tell you how much you owe.  Scan the parking voucher to override the charge and raise the gate.

Other times coming to the church – Take a ticket when entering the garage.  You will need to pick up a voucher from the church office.  As you leave, put your parking ticket in the machine.  The machine will tell you how much you owe.  Scan the parking voucher to override the charge and raise the gate.

NOTE — Vouchers are valid for one use only.

If You Have a Child

You are welcome to bring your children. We believe that children aren’t the future of our church, they are the NOW! We provide a nursery for those children 36 months old and younger. We also provide an age-appropriate learning experience with skilled and loving caregivers at Children’s Church.  We have a strict sign-in out policy as well as issue lanyards for the children. What About Communion?

Holy Communion is offered every Sunday at McKendree. Part of our Wesleyan tradition as Christians is to participate in constant communion and not just frequent communion. Constant communion is a journey toward conversion, holiness and sanctification. One of the main reasons for Holy Communion is as a reminder of the invitation of Christ’s love for all people. We invite people to an “Open Table” signifying that the Lord’s Table is a place for all people to participate in a sacramental (simple) and disciplined life where we gather, offer, share and extend ourselves. The Lord’s Table is a place where repentance and reconciliation are expected. For us, the Lord’s Supper is a means of grace; one of the ways God saves us from sin and strengthens us for discipleship.

After the Service

… you are invited to meet the pastor and other McKendree worshipers in the hall at the back of the Sanctuary.
