Greetings Holy, Healthy and Happy People of God,
As I write this to our faithful and devoted community of radical followers of Jesus Christ, I am attending the General Commission on Religion and Race Board meeting in Baltimore, Marylnd. During our opening worship experience, Dr. Michelle Ledder offered the idea of us focusing on the right now. WOW!
I’m guilty of focusing on the next thing, the next appointment and the next day. Imagine if we waited patiently on the LORD and intentionally reducing our reliance on tweeting out the next message, drafting the next email, answering the next phone call, or even rushing to the next meeting. What if we lived a life that Isaiah 40:31 proposes:
“but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
We need to start recognizing the gift of right now and not the gift of the past and future. Most of us don’t allow the present to be honored as sacred. Our gift of the present is a reflection of the God that we serve in the present. God’s love, joy, peace and hope is in the present.
By acknowledging the right now, we actually affirm that God is still present in our moments daily. We never have to wait on God to show up; the God is love is ever present. Waiting is not for God, waiting is for us to gain a greater level of faith and trust in God.
Hear the W.O.W., the Words of Wisdom: ” !”
As always, remember, God’s will for us is good, we must do the rest!
Pastor Stephen
