URGENT NEEDS
The Mission Focus for September, Community Care Fellowship, is being continued until Sunday, October 23. CCF serves many functions for the homeless community and for the near-homeless families in the James Cayce Housing Neighborhood. Many mothers depend on Community Care to provide diapers for their babies. Community Care has asked if we could help – there is a desperate need for diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6) and for Neosporin/antibiotic ointment. Donations can be brought to the church on Sundays or to the church office during the week. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your generosity!
NOTE FROM THE TENNESSEE CONFERENCE regarding Hurricane Matthew Disaster Relief Thank you to everyone who has already reached out to us on how to respond to those affected by Hurricane Matthew. At this early stage, damage is still being assessed so that an appropriate response can be put together. We will communicate any need for volunteer deployment as soon as it is available to us.
The Tennessee Conference has one Early Response Team deployed to South Carolina and we are working with trained ERT’s for additional deployment as requests are made. As needs are communicated to us, we will let you know specifically what kinds of supplies or kits are needed by our UMCOR warehouses, at this time there is NOT a need.
In the meantime, there are a couple of things you can do:
Pray. Our friends and partners across the Caribbean and up the Eastern Seaboard need our genuine prayers in the days, months and years to come.
Donate. UMCOR is receiving funds to help as needs are requested.

MINISTRY AT McKENDREE!
SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES are regularly at 9am and 11am (on Fifth Sundays we have one combined worship service at 10am). Our October sermon series is, “Random Acts of Generosity!” Imagine if we believed God formed and shaped us to be generous. Think about how our lives would change if we embraced ourselves as generous people. Oftentimes we see through the lens of scarcity (shortage). What if we changed our prescription to see through the lens of abundance? What if we begin a life of generosity in our personal and public lives? Let’s explore how the Holy Spirit is leading us to offer random acts of generosity.
REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering. We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm. Our worship includes prayers, hymns, a message and Holy Communion. Everyone is invited to attend.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY Our Adult Bible Study meets at 6pm in the Pastor’s office. We are in a study on World Religions (Islam, Buddhism, Unity Church, Scientology, Baha’i, etc.) in the light of Christianity. Everyone is welcome to join us!
BAPTISMS If you are interested in being baptized, please contact Ruth in the church office at 615-271-2600 or mckendreeinfo@gmail.com.
LIFE GROUPS! Do you belong to a Life Group? If you’re not involved in a McKendree Church Life Group, you’re missing out! Life Groups offer a time to form friendships, have fellowship and study the Word of God together. We have a number of different Life Groups, which meet at various time and places during the week. We encourage everyone to be in a Life Group! If you’d like more information about our Life Groups, contact Ruth Baggett in the church office (615-271-2600 or mckendreeinfo@gmail.com).
