Luke 1:26-38, Common English Bible
That’s impossible! How many times have we heard those two words and agreed or said those words with a strong belief? We all know and have heard or witnessed that the impossible with God often becomes the possible!
Elizabeth, who was barren, is now pregnant with John the Baptist. Now Mary, described as a virgin and engaged to be married to Joseph enters the story. Gabriel, the angel of God, visits Mary with a prophetic announcement of the promise of divine disruption. You are pregnant with God’s Son!
Mary must be thinking, “How is this divine disruption possible?” Can you hear the voice of disbelief?
Let’s look at the pattern for a divine encounter!
Feels like God is absent!
Mary said to the angel, “But how? I’ve never slept with a man.” Luke 1:34
Words of reassurance become evident!
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, the power of the Highest hover over you; Therefore, the child you bring to birth will be called Holy, Son of God.” Luke 1:35
God’s promise is accepted and fulfilled!
“Nothing, you see, is impossible with God.” And Mary said, “Yes, I see it all now: I’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve. Let it be with me just as you say.” Luke 1:37-38
