After a 45 day closure in March and April, McKendree’s Day Care program reopened in May to serve families, many of whom are essential workers. Following stringent protocols for health and safety, the center is currently caring for close to 70 children. Although social distancing in the form of keeping groups small and independent of one another, frequent cleaning, and mask wearing is standard procedure now, developmentally appropriate play and warm and caring relationships continue. The center has been intentional in following best practice while providing quality child care to support working families.
