The Encounter

A Multi-Site Extension Ministry of McKendree
with a Vision of Building Bridges of Hope Through the Love of Jesus Christ

The Encounter is a multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-generational and multi-class movement of faith building intentional communities of hope within the neighborhoods of Nashville.

The Encounter is an extension of the mission of McKendree UMC into the neighborhoods of Nashville where people meet regularly to engage in vital conversations about gospel and reconciliation, in compassionate relationships with all people, and in life giving action that moves beyond our comfort and complacency into the mission fields of Nashville where God is already at work and waiting for us to join.

The Encounter is a movement that is intentionally focused on The Table which is both a metaphor for gathering together for authentic fellowship, nourishment and sending forth into mission and an intentional practice where we are called to gather around actual tables for real, open conversation about the intersection of our lives and our faith.
