Harvest Circles!

Luke 10:1-2, Common English Bible

Jesus offers everyone an invitation to experience the profound love of God.  To extend God’s love and salvation to the world takes humanity’s yes.  The yes to God involves a faithful and joyful journey of listening to the truth teachings and then taking action.  Jesus sends the 72 out to…

Tell the truth about God’s love!
The Lord commissioned seventy-two others and sent them ahead in pairs to every city and place he was about to go.   Luke 10:1

See the harvest as ripe relationships and where radical love exists!
He said to them, “The harvest is bigger than you can imagine, but there are few workers…”   Luke 10:2(a)

Continuously pray for workers!
“Therefore plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out workers for the harvest.”   Luke 10:2(b)

Say Something!

Genesis 37:5-11, Common English Bible

God uses dreams and visions to speak to us.  God plants dreams in us so that heaven can come and speak to earth.

We are the depositories for God’s plans and purposes.
Joseph represents a place for God’s next move.  He’s too young and he defies the normal order.  God’s placement of the dream disrupts the order of the familiar.  God’s dream offers us an understanding of the intent of God’s future.  Dreams are tied to what God wants us to believe.  So why does God send us dreams?  Dreams …

Reveal hidden issues!
He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had.  When we were binding stalks of grain in the field, my stalk got up and stood upright, while your stalks gathered around it and bowed down to my stalk.”   Genesis 37:6-7

Take us to the unfamiliar!
Then Joseph had another dream and described it to his brothers: “I’ve just dreamed again, and this time the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”  When he described it to his father and brothers, his father scolded him and said to him, “What kind of dreams have you dreamed?  Am I and your mother and your brothers supposed to come and bow down to the ground in front of you?”   Genesis 37:9-10

Cause tension and cause people to think!
His brothers were jealous of him, but his father took careful note of the matter.   Genesis 37:11

Clues to God’s Promises!

Joshua 6:6-17, Common English Bible

What (or who) typically gets in the way of you expecting God’s promises to happen?  Jericho represents what gets in the way of God’s miracles.  Distraction, disobedience and disbelief can disrupt our trust in God’s promises.  Everyone has a Jericho moment in life.  We stop believing that God can do what God said.  Early on in the book of Joshua, God promises Joshua, “I am giving you every place where you set foot, exactly as I promised Moses.”  Joshua 1:3 CEB

Recall the Prayer of Promise!
Throughout the Bible there are clues to the promises of God.  These clues are reaffirmation of God’s promises in our lives, but the clues must be strictly adhered to for the promises to be fulfilled.  While looking for these clues, ask, “Is there a limit to God’s power?”  If we say “No” then God calls us to…

Follow God Regardless!
He (Joshua) said, to the people, “Go forward.  Circle the city.  Let the armed soldiers go in front of the Lord’s chest.”   Joshua 6:7

Listen faithfully to God!
“Joshua ordered the people, ‘Don’t shout.  Don’t let your voice be heard.  Don’t let a word come out of your mouth until the day I tell you, ‘Shout!’  Then Shout!’”   Joshua 6:10

Know your role in God’s Deliverance!
The seventh time, the priests blew the trumpets.  Then Joshua said to the people, “Shout, because the LORD has given you the city.”   Joshua 6:16

Circle the (Prophetic) Path!

Matthew 2:13-15; 19-23 Common English Bible

Have you ever felt fearful enough to go in a totally different direction?  What caused you to go then and why?  How did you know to go down that path?

Paths are designed for humanity to go in a certain direction, the direction of righteousness.  It takes intentional humility and faithful obedience to go in a different direction, especially when God directs the path.  Each God-given path is based on a promise.  When we draw a circle around that promise, it brings clarity when we come to that crossroad in life.

Joseph is in the midst of a “crossroad moment” and he gets direction from the angel in a dream.  Sometimes God causes us to take a nap so that God can instruct and redirect our path.  However no path is revealed unless there is fervent and frequent prayer.  Circling God’s promises involves prayer.  So when God reveals the path…

it is followed by instruction!
When the magi had departed, an angel from the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up.  Take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.  Stay there until I tell you, for Herod will soon search for the child in order to kill him.”   Matthew 2:13

it is often inconvenient!
Joseph got up and, during the night, took the child and his mother to Egypt.  He stayed there until Herod died.  This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: I have called my son out of Egypt.   Matthew 2:14-15

it will eventually bring peace and purpose!
He settled in a city called Nazareth so that what was spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled: He will be called a Nazarene.   Matthew 2:23
