What’s Happening: September 16

http://www.McKendreeNashville.com   That’s right, we have a new spot on the internet!  New format, new features, and new look!  Be sure to check it out!  Our email address is still the same – mckendreeinfo@gmail.com.

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES  are regularly at 9am and 11am (on Fifth Sundays we have one combined worship service at 10am).  Our September sermon series is “Count Life All Joy!”  By living in a world that is chaotic and confusing, if we are not careful, we can lose our joy for life.  God calls us to celebrate in the midst of the chaos.  This life is filled with uncertainty and uncontrollable situations, but life, the life that God gives us, is filled with the joy of the LORD!  How do we reclaim our joy?  Join us for a time of reclaiming and renewing the joy of the LORD that is already within us.

PROMOTION SUNDAY  This Sunday, September 18 (and also October 2) during the 9am worship service, we will recognize those of our children who are entering Kindergarten this year.  The children will receive a Bible with their name engraved on it.  Beginning school is a big step in our children’s lives and we pray for God’s blessings to be with them!

LIFE GROUP!  Do you belong to a Life Group?   McKendree Church has Life Groups for men, for women, for couples, for mixed men and women, for moms, and even for couponers.  Some groups meet here at the church and others meet in various locations in Nashville and Brentwood.  If you’d like more information about our Life Groups, contact Ruth Baggett in the church office (615-271-2600 or mckendreeinfo@gmail.com).

REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering.  We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm.  This short time of worship includes prayers, hymns, a message and Holy Communion.  Everyone is invited to attend.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY  Our Adult Bible Study meets at 6pm in the Pastor’s office.  We are in a study from the book Forgiveness: Making Peace with the Past by Douglas Connelly.  The lesson for September 21 is “Forgiving When We Don’t Feel Like It” and the reading assignment is Philemon 1:1-25.  Everyone is welcome to join us!

THANK YOU!  Our United Methodist Women were able to put together 35 health/hygiene kits to be sent to Louisiana as part of the flood relief efforts.  Each kit contained a hand towel, a washcloth, a comb, nail clippers, bath soap, a toothbrush, adhesive bandages, all packed in a one-gallon plastic ziplock bag.  Thank you to everyone who donated items!  Because of continued disaster occurrences around the world, this will be an ongoing project with our UMW group.
