A Necessary Reminder!

Luke 10:38-42 Common English Bible

When do you find yourself getting consumed by the busyness of the day only to lose track of time?  What do you do?  Hopefully someone will remind you of what is most important and why we were created to exist.

One of the realities of the day is we tend to lose focus and become distracted.  Regardless of what we believe is important, God is the source of our daily focus.  When we focus on God, God releases instructions from within our hearts.  This release triggers a reminder letting us know that God is the giver of life and the director of our hearts.

Martha and Mary are sisters offering accommodations to Jesus who has come to visit.  During his visit, the sisters see different priorities while in His presence.  Both have something to offer Jesus and they do.  What is Jesus to remind us of today?

Offer hospitality and humility!
While Jesus and his disciples were traveling, Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed him as a guest.   Luke 10:38

Presume the lowest place!
She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his message.   Luke 10:39

Stay connected to compassion!
The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things.  One thing is necessary.  Mary has chosen the better part.  It won’t be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
