What to Do When Life is Complicated!

Matthew 6:5-15, New Revised Standard Version

Prayer is the simplistic way to connect and communicate with God. Jesus practiced it with perfection. The disciples asked for Jesus to teach them and Jesus responds with a gift of discernment and power.  So when Jesus offers the disciples another spiritual discipline, he is giving them the gift of direction for their future. This direction comes with a healthy and holy rhythm.

“Prayer is where the action is!”  John Wesley

Prayer is the wireless connection that can simplify our daily lives. So think about prayer as a rhythm necessary for productivity.  Use the acronym ACTS as a rhythm when praying (conversing) with God!

Adoration – Give God the praise and honor!
“Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come.  Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.”   Matthew 6:9-11

Confession – Honestly deal with our sin!
“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And do not bring us to the time of trial but rescue us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:12-13

Thanksgiving – Verbalize your thanksgiving!
“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”

Supplication – Remember yourself and the other!
Always pray for the needs of others and yourself!
