McKENDREE MINISTRIES!

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES  are regularly at 9am and 11am.  (On Fifth Sundays we have one combined worship service at 10am.)  Our sermon series is “Intentional Disruption!”  At times, God intentionally disrupts our lives.  In the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit is a disruptive force for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.  So let’s not fight disruption but rather join God in the journey of renewal.  Disruption helps us change by testing us so that we gather in communion before God and with neighbor.  Disruption strengthens our faith and faith is the only way to please God.  What in your life needs disrupting?

ENCOUNTER MINISTRIES  Our Encounter Ministries (Encounter@Edgehill and Encounter@Metrocente) will be re-launching soon.  More details will be coming soon!

REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering.  We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm.  Our worship includes prayers, hymns, a message and Holy Communion.  Everyone is invited to attend.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER  Remember that we as a church are praying the Lord’s Prayer every day at Noon.  Wherever you are at noon, we invite you to join us in prayer.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES   Our Wednesday Night Bible Study and our Chancel Choir are not meeting in July.  Both groups will begin again on August 2.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL  McKendree’s VBS will be Saturday-Sunday, July 15-16.  The times are:
Saturday – 9:00-9:30, registration
Saturday – 9:30-1:00, VBS classes, lunch included
Sunday – 9:30-12:00, VBS classes
We will have classes for children age 3 up to those who have completed 4th grade.  Our theme this year is Camp Out: Getting S’More of Jesus.  Volunteers are needed on Saturday and Sunday, and also for setting up on Friday, July 14.  You may register your child, or register yourself to volunteer at https://vbspro.events/p/events/mckendree2017.  We look forward to seeing you at our Camp Out!

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY   I want to send out a HUGE thank you to all who came to help clean on Sunday.  It looks AMAZING!!!  We couldn’t have done this without the super help from organizing, moving junk, childcare workers, and those that walked back and forth down the alley carrying all the trash.  (There was a LOT of it!)  Our children are so blessed by the wonderful volunteers we have!

Also, we are planning a McKendree kids yard sale in between services on Sunday, July 9.  It will be downstairs in the Children’s Area.  We’ll have lots of stuff to sell including some baked goods.  The money collected will go toward our children’s ministry.  SO bring your wallets!                                                                                                         —Alison Weakley

PRAYER WALL  Our prayer wall is located on the table at the back of the church.  You may take a tag (in a box on the table), write out your prayer need, and tie it onto a nail in the wall.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays the Lead Team and Prayer Team will pray over all the concerns submitted.  We welcome people from our congregation to submit concerns and to read and pray over the concerns of our church body.
