Other Mindfulness

Romans 16:1-2, New Revised Standard Version

God has given us a mind to produce phenomenal actions.  It doesn’t take special people with special credentials to do marvelous things for God.  The exact opposite is usually true.  God uses normal people with a passion for helping others.  People who are willing to sacrifice their time for someone else welcome God’s generosity into the situation.

Paul acknowledges Phoebe and designates her as a deacon of the church.  Deacons are service minded people.  Phoebe was probably a Grecian and trusted because she is delivering a letter from Paul.  Phoebe’s commendation from Paul reflected on her full commitment to Christ.  It is evident by her…

Submission to a life of service!
“I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church at Cenchreae,”   Romans 16:1

Women minister too!
“so that you may welcome her in the Lord as is fitting for the saints,”   Romans 16:2(a)

Caring for other people!
“and help her in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a benefactor of many and of myself as well.”   Romans 16:2(b)

Hear the W.O.W., the Words of Wisdom,
“Serve as if you are serving the LORD!”
