Greetings Holy, Healthy and Happy People of God,
As I write this eNote to our faithful and devoted community of radical followers of Jesus Christ, I am grateful for the profound response to our Christmas in July and Worship Without Walls experiences. Last Sunday, our congregation was invited to join God in the neighborhood. We gathered for worship and then extended our hearts, hands and feet into the work of ministry. Jesus calls us to “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1
The work we did represented the Christ in us. From organizing, painting and moving mulch, all were examples of sacrifice. The sacrifice of our time and the use of our hands so that others could be helped and see the love of Christ in us was demonstrated graciously. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
On Sunday, there was a couple who visited McKendree for the first time and we offered hospitality. They responded in a way that honored God and will help some men who come through the Clothes Closet this week. So we never know how God will use us. “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2
Hear the W.O.W., the Words of Wisdom: “Share God’s Love, it makes God smile!”
As always, remember, God’s will for us is good, we must do the rest!
Pastor Stephen
