We’ll have one combined 30 minute service at 10am!

Tess Frohock will be our guest speaker Sunday.  Tess and her husband, Rev. Kyle Frohock will be serving as Methodist missionaries in San José, Costa Rica starting this August.  Kyle was a pastoral intern here at McKendree Church from 2011-2013 and has served as pastor of Dalewood UMC the past four years.  Kyle and Tess have a vision to make disciples of Jesus Christ whose impact throughout Latin America will transform the world.  They are currently raising support for their mission and would love to talk with you to share more about ways you can partner with them.  You can contact Kyle and Tess at 615-354-3566 or ktfrohocl@gmail.org.

Three missional opportunities are currently available.

         McKendree Rooftop Garden
            * Weeding of garden spots
* Planting vegetables
* Sanding and painting of wooden furniture
* General cleaning of rooftop

Downtown (Library) Park
            * We are cleaning up the park where most of our displaced members whom we
serve occupy space during the day.  We will supply gloves and trash bags for
everyone.

Bethlehem Center
            * Clean out Outside Stairwell (adjacent to Bethlehem Center Parking Lot)
* Organize Closet/Teacher Supply and Lounge Area
* Light Classroom Organizing and Cleaning
* Clean Up Litter and Debris around the Campus

This is a time for McKendree Church to share our faith with Nashville.  Come ready to organize, clean, and plant.  You are welcome to wear casual clothes Sunday morning.  Come ready to be a blessing to others!

ENCOUNTER@METROCENTER will not meet at the Publishing House on Sunday, as we invite our Encounter@MetroCenter congregation to join us for the Sunday morning worship and Worship without Walls event.

“THE BIG PAYBACK”
4TH ANNUAL MIDDLE TENNESSEE
ONLINE GIVING DAY
WEDNESDAY, MAY 3 – All Day

• Community-Wide 24 Hour Online Giving Challenge
• Hosted by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee
• To help area nonprofits raise much-needed funds and bring awareness to pressing needs in the community. In the past three years, The Big Payback has helped raise more than $6.5 million for nearly 800 local nonprofits – including schools and churches.
• Wednesday, May 3, 2017, from 12:00am to 11:59pm
• For 24 hours donors can make gifts to participating nonprofits, schools, and religious institutions located in Middle Tennessee. Gifts from the public will be boosted with funds from corporate sponsors of The Big Payback.
• Donations can be made by going to www.TheBigPayback.org at any time on May 3. You may use your credit or debit card to donate a gift to any participating nonprofit, especially McKendree Church!
• Share this with your friends, family, and social media contacts. Ask them to support McKendree UMC!

CREATION CARE MINISTRY RECYCLE DAY  On Saturday, May 6th, McKendree Church will co-sponsor in Creation Care Recycling Day at West End UMC, from 9am-12pm.  This will be an opportunity for:

• Document shredding – bring paper and photos in an untied garbage bag or open box
• Electronic recycling – computers, monitors, DVD players, electronics, printers, televisions and more. There is a $10 charge for computer monitors and a $25 charge for all televisions.
• Batteries – dry-cell batteries, disposable and rechargeable and others
• Medications – dispose of over-the-counter and prescription drugs, pills, liquids, lotions, inhalers
• Donations for Goodwill – clothing, household items, furniture, books, working appliances

MEN’S CLOTHING!  We are in great need of men’s clothing for the clothes closet – pants, shirts, t-shirts, underwear and shoes.  All sizes!  You can bring your donations on Sunday and place them in the chest just inside the back door.  For weekday donations, please call Ruth in the church office (615-271-2600) to arrange a drop-off time.  Thank you for your generosity!
