Greetings Holy, Healthy and Happy People of God,
As I write this eNote to our faithful and devoted community of radical and responsible followers of Jesus Christ, I wonder why we worry so much. Worry can be a deterrent to living a bountiful life. A working definition of worry is this, “Worry is a conscious or unconscious barrier to God’s abundance!” Worry can creep into our lives and control our thinking. But Jesus offers a simplistic response to a “worry consumed” life. He invites us into the “worry free” zone. It is a place where whenever worry surfaces, we have a response – Worry flee from me, God will provide!
What does God desire for us? An abundant and fulfilling life!
Jesus is once again spending time with the disciples teaching them another life lesson. He has just finished discussing serving two masters, one is God and the other is earthly wealth and then he tells them, “Therefore, I say to you, don’t worry about your life, what you’ll eat or what you’ll drink, or about your body, what you’ll wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds in the sky. They don’t sow seed or harvest grain or gather crops into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than they are? Who among you by worrying can add a single moment to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? Notice how the lilies in the field grow. They don’t wear themselves out with work, and they don’t spin cloth.” Matthew 6:25-28 God will always take care of necessities and not our need for greed!
So the next time you feel the need to worry, spend more time in the word. The more WORD we have in us the less we WORRY! Jesus uses kingdom language by suggesting we seek the kingdom. When we desire God there is not much room for worry. “Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, stop worrying about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34
