Living the Greater Works Life

Greetings Holy, Healthy and Happy People of God,

As I write this eNote to our faithful and devoted community of radical and contextually conscious followers of Jesus Christ, I am grateful to be walking into a New Year!

God has greater works for us to do in 2018!  Really?  Yes, really, and Jesus says it this way, “Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.  I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”  John 14:12-14, NRSV

This year let’s live faithfully into the reality of living a greater works life.  The key is praying and discerning, understanding what that greater work is and then like Nike, “just do it!”  Strengthening your prayer life is critical to this God-given alignment.  Think about the front-end alignment for your tires.  Proper alignment will maximize the tread on your tires, but lacking proper alignment, the wear and tear on your tires comes much sooner.  Proper spiritual practices align your heart with God so that we become ambassadors of hope for those around us.  Your best days are not in the past, you have not lived them yet; they start tomorrow and the days after.

So it is with our lives.  Jesus invites us into four serious spiritual practices.  Pray.  Bible.  Worship.  Mission.  Doing these practices is like taking a daily vitamin for 30 days; you will start to see encouraging results.

Join me for the Greater Works Challenge this Sunday and sign up.  And remember God has greater works for us in 2018.  Invite your family and friends to join you.

Remember to pray The Lord’s Prayer every day at 12 Noon!

As always, remember, God’s will for us is good, we must do the rest!
Pastor Stephen
