McKENDREE MINISTRIES!

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES  are regularly at 9am and 11am.  (On July 29th we will have one combined worship service at 10am.)  Our June/July sermon series is “Talking with God!”  This series explores what to say when you don’t know how to pray.  Even more the series gives us the understanding and confidence to pray with ease and expectation.  Often we think about prayer as a well-crafted experience and we need just the right language for God to hear us.  What if prayer were just the opposite?  We are using the Lord’s Prayer as a guide for this two-month series.

BAPTISM    If you are interested in being baptized, please contact Ruth Baggett in the church office at mckendreeinfo@gmail.com or 615-271-2600.

ENCOUNTER MINISTRY    Our Encounter Ministry is an alternative service for those who feel “church” is not for them.  We meet at 12:30pm at the offices of the United Methodist Publish House, at 2222 Rosa L. Parks Blvd.  We are meeting (for the summer) on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.  We invite you to join us and bring a neighbor, family or friends!  For more information on our Encounter Ministry, you may contact Rick Quinn at mckendreerick@gmail.com.

REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering.  We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm.  Our worship includes prayers, music, a message and Holy Communion.  Everyone is invited to attend.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!   SUNDAY JULY 29!

CAROLING ON THE LAWN   To celebrate our Christmas in July, we’ll be singing Christmas Carols on the front lawn on Saturday, July 28, at 10am.  All singers welcome!  You do not have to be a member of the choir or praise band to participate.  We’ll gather at the church at 9:30am.  As we sing, we’ll give out bottles of water to people passing by, and invite them to our special Christmas in July service on July 29.  Everyone is invited to join us!  Donations of bottled water will be greatly appreciated!  (Singers – please bring a bag of ice with you!)

CHRISTMAS IN JULY, JULY 29!  This is a Fifth Sunday, and we will have one combined service at 10am.  We are requesting spiral notebooks, composition books and pencils for Buena Vista Elementary School.  In 2016 we received 1500 pencils and 410 notebooks.  Last year we received 2000 pencils, and 505 notebooks.  What can we do this year?  Bring your gifts to the church office ahead of time or bring them to church on July 29.  Gift wrapping not necessary!

WORSHIP WITHOUT WALLS  On Sunday, July 29, following our 10am time of worship, we will have opportunities to put our faith in action and take our worship outside of the church building.  Our work projects will be (1) Buena Vista School yard work, (2) Buena Vista School clothes closet organization and (3) McKendree Church clothes closet organization.  This is a time for us to share our faith with Nashville.  Come ready to organize, clean, weed and work in the dirt!  Come ready to be a blessing to others!
