McKENDREE MINISTRIES!

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES  are regularly at 9am and 11am.  (On Fifth Sundays we have one combined worship service at 10am.)  Our sermon series is “Intentional Disruption!”  This series calls us to pay close attention to God’s intentional disruption in our life.  In the book of Acts, the Holy Spirit is a disruptive force for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.  So let’s not fight disruption but rather join God in the journey of renewal.  Disruption helps us change by testing us so that we gather in communion before God and with neighbor.  Disruption strengthens our faith and faith is the only way to please God.  What in your life needs disrupting?

ENCOUNTER MINISTRIES  The Encounter@Edgehill and The Encounter@Metrocenter are taking a break from meeting during June.  The design teams for these satellite outposts of McKendree’s ministry to the neighborhoods of Nashville are meeting for a time of reflection on progress so far and visioning toward a re-launch with some innovations in the structure and schedule.  Stay tuned for more details!

BAPTISM  If you are interested in being baptized, please contact Ruth Baggett in the church office at mckendreeinfo@gmail.com.

REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering.  We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm.  Our worship includes prayers, hymns, a message and Holy Communion.  Everyone is invited to attend.

NEWS FROM ANNUAL CONFERENCE  The Tennessee Conference has restructured the districts within the Conference.  Instead of having 7 districts, there are now 5 districts – 1) Red River District, 2) Cumberland River District, 3) Caney Fork River District, 4) Harpeth River District and 5) Stones River District.  The United Methodist churches in Nashville are placed in different districts, depending on their location in the city.  McKendree Church is part of the Red River District and our District Superintendent is Rev. Dr. Ken Murray.  Rev. Harriet Bryan, who was the District Superintendent of the Nashville District, is now the Pastor of Madison Street UMC in Clarksville.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER  Remember that we as a church are praying the Lord’s Prayer every day at Noon.  Wherever you are at noon, we invite you to join us in prayer.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY  We are studying the book, He Chose the Nails, by Max Lucado.  Our lesson for June 21 is Chapter 15, “What Will You Leave at the Cross?”  This is the last chapter of this book.  Our group will take a break from June 28-July 26, and we will begin a new study on August 2.  We meet in Pastor Stephen’s office at 6pm, and everyone is welcome to join us!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLVBS 2017, Camp Out Logo  McKendree’s VBS will be Saturday-Sunday, July 15-16.  We will have classes for children age 3 up to those who have completed 4th grade.  Our theme this year is Camp Out: Getting S’More of Jesus.  Volunteers are needed on Saturday and Sunday, and also for setting up on Friday, July 14.  You may register your child, or register yourself to volunteer at https://vbspro.events/p/events/mckendree2017.  We look forward to seeing you at our Camp Out!

McKENDREE LIFE GROUPS  We have a number of Life Groups that meet in different areas of Nashville and on different days/schedules.  If you are interested in being part of any of our Life Groups, please contact Rick Quinn at mckendreerick@gmail.com.  Our Life Groups are open to everyone.  Feel free to invite your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers!
